The Down Syndrome Australia (DSA) Board is pleased to announce Darryl Steff as the incoming CEO for DSA after an extensive and competitive selection process. Darryl will commence the new role in January 2023.

Darryl is currently the CEO of Down Syndrome Queensland (DSQ) and has successfully led DSQ during a time of significant change and growth. Under his leadership, DSQ has led the way in Queensland in supporting people with Down syndrome and their families.

“DSA is pleased to welcome Darryl as CEO of Down Syndrome Australia and believe that he will be a great asset in leading DSA and building on the success achieved under our current CEO Dr Ellen Skladzien,” says Angus Graham, DSA Board Chairman.

Darryl says he is excited to be taking on the new role in 2023.

“As the parent of a child with Down syndrome and from my role as CEO of DSQ, I have a strong knowledge of the opportunities and issues facing the Down syndrome community, and the broader disability community. I am looking forward to continuing the work that DSA has been doing in this area and advocating for the rights of people with Down syndrome and their families on the national level.”

“In my time as CEO of DSQ, and before that as Board Member and Board Chair, I have developed a strong understanding of the work of DSA and the broader Federation. It has been inspiring to see the success of DSA and the progress made in collaborating as a Federation under the leadership of Dr Ellen Skladzien. I am looking forward to continuing this important work,” he said.

The Board of Down Syndrome Australia and the broader Federation are looking forward to working with Darryl in the new year.
