Join us for our free Inclusive Education Information Session
Date: Monday 8 March 10:30 am – 12.00 pm (via zoom)
This session is ideal for parents of children with Down syndrome starting primary school, and for those who are already in primary school.
Joining us is Dr Rhonda Faragher, Associate Professor in Inclusive Education at the University of Queensland where she is also the Director of the Down Syndrome Research Program. Rhonda is the lead writer on the International Guidelines for the Education of Learners with Down syndrome.
In Australia, all children have the right to attend their local, mainstream school. Children with a disability can also attend a special school.
Inclusive education means that all students attend and are welcomed in their local educational setting and are supported to learn, contribute and participate in all aspects of that context.
Learning more about Inclusive Education, what it is and the many benefits it has is an important first step in navigating the education system. It will enable you to make informed decisions for your child when it comes to their education.
This informative yet casual session provides a great opportunity to connect with other parents on the same journey, learn from each other and share experiences.
This online session will be held via Zoom. Please join 5 minutes early for a 10.30 am start.
