This is an in person event for people with Down syndrome aged 18 years and over.

Let’s learn about friendships, dating, informed consent and online safety. In this three and a half hour workshop we will explore the laws around sex and relationships, what is informed consent and how to keep yourself safe while online.

About the event

This event is for people with Down syndrome aged 18 years and over.

Participants will gain knowledge about:

  • dating and friendships
  • protective behaviours
  • consent and laws related to this
  • keeping safe online.

Presenters

Kardi Whelan, Disability and Community Educator

Kardie has a Bachelor of Applied Science (Disability), as well as a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, and has worked in a variety of disability settings, special schools, and TAFEs. She has been at Sexual Health Victoria (formerly known as FPV) for15 years as a sexuality educator for people with cognitive disability of all ages. Kardie also provides professional learning to professionals and volunteers working in the disability sector and facilitates information sessions for parents and carers.
