While people with Down syndrome have some level of intellectual impairment, each person is an individual bringing their own strengths, skills and qualities to the job.

What is your dream job?
Bernie’s dream job is Welcomer at Novotel Sydney Central. “I also clean the brass on the doors and clean up the kids play area”. Bernie works independently in her role three days a week. According to Bernie “I like everything about it. Especially the uniform”.
Novotel wanted to employ two people with Down syndrome. We conducted the entire recruitment campaign included developing Easy Read applications, recruiting through our membership and training on how to support someone with Down syndrome in the workplace.
Bernie and her friend Jamyma, another young lady with Down syndrome who works in the Housekeeping Department, have been with Novotel for over 18 months and going strong!
