DSIDQ is the peak body for people with intellectual disability in Queensland<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

People with an intellectual disability have the same human rights as everyone else. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is supported by the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. People with intellectual disability deserve quality education, health care that meets their needs,\u00a0fulfilling work, genuine friendships, a place to call home, and active involvement in their community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is an intellectual disability?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Intellectual disability<\/strong> is when a doctor says someone has trouble with thinking and learning. This means they find it hard to learn things and do everyday tasks. People with intellectual disability can learn new things, it just might take them more time. They might need things explained in a different way. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

People with intellectual disability have the same rights, feelings, and goals as everyone else.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our mission is to support, advocate for and empower people with intellectual disabilities to reach their goals and be included in their community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
