People with Down syndrome want the same things as everyone else in the community – the best start in life, a good education, meaningful employment, somewhere to live and active participation in the life of the community around them.
Down Syndrome Australia works alongside the State and Territory Down syndrome associations to make sure people with Down syndrome have every opportunity to reach these simple but life changing goals. We hope you will join us in this important work, and there are many ways you can get involved.
We rely on public and private sector support to fulfill our mission to be the National Voice for people with Down syndrome and their families.
There are many ways to support Down Syndrome Australia. The most direct and beneficial in assisting us to continue our work is to make a financial contribution with a donation. With limited access to government funding, Down Syndrome Australia is dependent on donations to fund our operations.

Leave a Bequest
Leaving a gift in a Will, known as a Bequest, can ensure the longevity of our organisation. The generous donations we receive through bequests ensures the ongoing sustainability of our organisation.
Your Will is one of the most important documents you will ever prepare. Through a legally valid and up-to-date Will, you can support the people and causes close to your heart and ensure your wishes are honoured in the future.
If you would like to leave a bequest, you can use one of the following clauses:
For a set monetary gift
I give Down Syndrome Australia the sum of $… for its general purposes, and the receipt of the Treasurer or current office of Down Syndrome Australia will be sufficient discharge to my Executor/Trustee.
For a residuary bequest
I give Down Syndrome Australia all (or stated fraction) the rest, residue and remainder of my estate, whether real or personal, for its general purposes. The receipts of the Treasurer or current office of Down Syndrome Australia will be sufficient discharge to my Executor/Trustee.
Gifts in lieu - in memory
Family and friends can honour the life of a loved one by making a donation to Down Syndrome Australia in their memory.
A donation to DSA in lieu of flowers at a funeral can be a very rewarding way to honour their memory. Donation envelopes are available on request, simply send a note to email@example.com. Your family and friends' generosity will ensure the ongoing sustainability of our organisation, providing a Voice for people with Down syndrome well into the future.
Partner with us or become a Sponsor!
Down Syndrome Australia has a range of opportunities for organisations who may wish to support our work and programs. Please contact us to discuss partnerships or sponsorship opportunities.
Join your state association
Down Syndrome Australia is made up of eight State and Territory associations providing support, information and resources to people with Down syndrome and their families across the country. The associations have come together to represent and progress the needs, interests and aspirations of people with Down syndrome and those that support them.
DSA is funded largely by our members – the state and territory associations. It is important to remember that membership of your State or Territory Association provides much-needed funds to not only DSA, but each individual association and most importantly, links you in with the latest state or territory based information and resources – and especially the vibrant community of people with Down syndrome, their families and supporters. Get in touch with your local Down syndrome association and join to enjoy the benefits!
Participate in events or fundraise for us!
Members and people who have a personal connection to Down syndrome often take up the cause by participating in fundraising events. Some choose to challenge themselves in local running, cycling and other racing events, while others organise their own fundraisers in their communities.
We are very grateful to these people for stepping forward and choosing our organisation to fundraise for during the course of their participation. Monies raised in this way directly assist us in our work to provide the best possible life outcomes for people with Down syndrome and their families.
If participating in one of our annual national fundraising events is more your style, check out our events page to see what you can become involved in!
