{"id":4115,"date":"2026-02-02T12:05:33","date_gmt":"2026-02-02T01:05:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.downsyndrome.org.au\/vic\/?page_id=4115"},"modified":"2026-03-19T17:08:03","modified_gmt":"2026-03-19T06:08:03","slug":"are-you-coming-to-family-fun-day","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.downsyndrome.org.au\/vic\/are-you-coming-to-family-fun-day\/","title":{"rendered":"Are you coming to Family Fun Day?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In celebration of World Down Syndrome Day 2026 we&#8217;re returning to Werribee Zoo for our annual Family Fun Day on Sunday 22 March 2026!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Whether you\u2019re buying tickets at the DSV entrance, or you have already registered, read on for everything you need to know about DSV\u2019s Family Fun Day 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:26px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Getting there&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Address<\/strong>. Werribee Open Range Zoo: K Road, Werribee South&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Werribee Open Range Zoo is located 35 kilometres west of Melbourne\u2019s city centre, on the Princes Freeway. It is a short 30-minute drive from the city over the Westgate Bridge or via the Geelong Road. (Take the Werribee South exit to K Road.)&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:26px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Time. <\/strong>Family Fun Day will run from <strong>10.30am \u2013 1:00pm<\/strong> on the African Lawn and your registration will allow you to stay and explore the zoo for the remainder of the day.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Registration will be open from 9.30am &#8211; we recommend you arrive nice and early so as not to miss any of the fun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:26px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Parking<\/strong>. Free parking is available on site as well as accessible parking bays near the main entrance of the zoo.&nbsp;Please leave ample time to find a carpark as the zoo can be busy on weekends. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Remember, your registration allows you entry to the zoo from 9.30am, so if you&#8217;d like to come early, you can grab a coffee or enjoy some of the animals and sights before our event starts at 10:30am. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:26px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Pick-up and drop-off spots<\/strong>. There are two&nbsp;pick-up and drop-off location options at the zoo:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>the&nbsp;taxi zone near Gate C, where we&nbsp;will enter the zoo for Family Fun Day, or<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>the bus drop-off zone just past the main entry.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:26px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Transport<\/strong>. From Melbourne: catch a train from the Melbourne CBD to Werribee station (travelling on the Werribee Line). From Werribee station catch\u202f<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ptv.vic.gov.au\/route\/timetable\/14957\/439-werribee-station-werribee-south-via-werribee-park-mansion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Bus 439 Werribee South<\/a>\u202fto the Zoo.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From Geelong: catch a train from Geelong to Wyndham Vale Station (travelling towards Melbourne). From Wyndham Vale Station catch the\u202f<a href=\"http:\/\/ptv.vic.gov.au\/route\/view\/8457\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Bus 190 Werribee Station<\/a>\u202fto Werribee Station. Refer to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.downsyndrome.org.au\/vic\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2024\/03\/Werribee-Zoo-map_2024.pdf\" data-type=\"attachment\" data-id=\"518\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">this map<\/a> and look for the DSV logos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When you turn right into the Werribee Zoo entrance, please follow the driveway around to the left and take the first car park entrance to your right. This will allow you to park close to the Down Syndrome Victoria entrance and look out for the DSV registration marquee. You will need to arrive early in order to get a close carpark.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:26px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>When you reach the low \u2018Welcome Zoo Entry\u2019 sign, you will see the DSV registration area sitting behind it.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:26px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" your tickets from one of our friendly DSV staff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:26px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>If you pre-registered via Eventbrite, you <em>won&#8217;t<\/em> need to bring a ticket with you, we will have your details at the DSV entry point, where you will need to check in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The DSV registration tent will be open from 9:30am with event activities beginning at 10:30am.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please remember to bring your companion card or zoo membership card if you booked a concession or zoo member
