Families who had previously been given a bleak prognosis for the future of their children were now accessing services that encouraged and supported their children to grow and succeed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This evolution in the way people see the possibilities for people with Down syndrome paved the way towards a time of higher expectations and greater access to education and quality of life for people with Down syndrome. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We also look at the launch of the NDIS in South Australia and a feature on Veronika Davie who was born with Down syndrome and cerebral palsy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Early Years In May 2014, one the pioneers of early intervention for children with Down syndrome Moira Pieterse passed away.
