Through partnerships with mainstream sporting clubs, athletes with intellectual disabilities are able to compete at the international level thanks to a new set of disability classifications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><em>\u2018Through being welcomed into community sporting clubs, athletes not only have the opportunity to participate and socialise like every other club member, but the benefits from sport have a more profound effect. He has been selected to play tennis at the 2019 Global Games in Brisbane in October this year. <br>The Global Games is the world\u2019s largest sporting event for athletes with intellectual impairment, held once every four years.
