Voice is the journal of Down Syndrome Australia
Voice is a journal published twice a year, sharing stories and relevant information relating to Down syndrome and intellectual disability.
We provide a platform for people with Down syndrome to tell their stories, in their own words. We believe that Voice is the journal of people with Down syndrome, and we actively encourage people with Down syndrome to share their ideas. We will work with you to find the best way to get your message heard.
Best of all, you can now subscribe to Voice for free from anywhere across Australia. Voice is available in both a print copy and a digital copy.
We do not promote or recommend any therapy, treatment, institution or professional system. We do not support any political or religious view. Individuals or organisations referred to are not endorsed by Voice, its editor, or any federal, state or territory organisation. The views expressed in articles and other material in Voice are not necessarily those of Down Syndrome Australia.
Privacy policy
- It is the right of members of state and territory associations to know that all personal information collected is used solely by the organisation in accordance with the Commonwealth Privacy Act guidelines and will not be disclosed to another party except as required by law.

- All photographic materials provided by state and territory members or acquired at organisation/state and territory association events will be used tastefully and professionally.
Reprint policy
- State and territory members should be aware that photographs from organisation/state and territory events are taken with the understanding that subjects realise the images may appear in the organisation’s publications and on the website.
- Members have the right to refuse to be photographed at such events.
Permission is given for other not-for-profit organisations to reprint original material from this journal on the condition that the author’s name is included and the original source acknowledged as: Voice, the journal of Down Syndrome Australia (month, year).
Permission from the editor must be sought if the material is to be used in publications for sale. Note that to reprint material from a secondary source, permission must be sought from the original publisher. Please direct reprint enquiries to the managing editor at voice@downsyndrome.org.au
