Employment and Community Participation

August 2013 heralded the first national publication of Voice. Prior to this, Voice was produced by Down Syndrome Victoria and Down Syndrome NSW.

In this first national issue, we presented a series of articles on preparing people with Down syndrome to enter the work force with tips and advice for getting job-ready and choosing a job service provider.

We also take a look at the different types of work places and some of the things that need to improve so that more people with Down syndrome can be supported to work in open employment instead of sheltered workshops.

Plus we look at a social enterprise that is employing and training people with intellectual disability in open employment with great success.
