The cover of the December issue features a fabulous painting of advocate, actor and public speaker Nathan Basha. The artist Patrick Pace shared with us the story behind the painting including why he chose Nathan as his subject and the background behind the development of the work. Patrick is a Sydney-based architect who has always loved painting and drawing and decided to enter a piece in the Archibald Prize in 2019. His daughter Stella has Down syndrome and he discovered Nathan while researching possibilities for Stella’s future.
Nathan Basha is a passionate and articulate advocate and public speaker. He has a philosophy of *NB – No Barriers where he encourages employers to hire more people with Down syndrome in open employment.
He shared with us his thoughts about being the The Artist’s Subject with his wonderful wit and humour.
