Down Syndrome Tasmania is a small grassroots organisation which aims to provide impartial support, information and resources to all expectant families. We understand receiving a prenatal or postnatal diagnosis can take time to process and we hope that reaching out to, we can assist you to make sense of those thoughts.
Our organisation is here for you. We can guide you through any stage of your pregnancy from:
- Screening options
- General information about Down syndrome
- Provide unbiased support through the decision-making process
- Follow-up support
We are available via phone, email, social media or in-person to assist you with the support you wish. We are able to connect you with a family who has a child with Down syndrome. This can be a helpful opportunity to learn more about the day-to-day experience of families and speak to a parent for their point of view.
If you would like to join an online community to discuss your pregnancy, we suggest the Facebook group T21 Mum Australia where you can direct message the page and request to join the private pregnancy group. This page has no affiliation with Down Syndrome Tasmania however it is used nationwide which allows you to discuss with other people who are currently pregnant with a confirmed diagnosis.
Down Syndrome Australia have developed a range of fact sheets and resources to support families and expecting parents. The prenatal fact sheet provides easy-to-understand and balanced information for families or parents considering prenatal testing.
