This practical and supportive webinar is designed to help carers understand and protect their own mental wellbeing while caring for others. Using evidence-based strategies from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Kate Row and Lauren Poulos will help participants learn realistic tools to manage stress, emotional overwhelm, and self-pressure.
In this practical and engaging presentation, Kate and Lauren will educate attendees on several strategies to use, including:
- Understanding the emotional and mental load of caring
- Why stress and difficult emotions are a normal part of caring roles
- The “Struggle Switch” and how fighting feelings can increase distress
- Practical ways to respond to self-critical thoughts
- Connecting with personal values as a source of resilience
- Simple mindfulness strategies for everyday regulation
- Small, achievable self-care actions carers can use immediately
- Supports available for carers, including coaching options
This session is ideal for individuals, carers and families seeking information on how to look after their mental wellbeing.
Guest Speakers from Goals Psychology

Kate works with toddlers, children, teenagers and adults. The main therapeutic modalities she utilizes include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), solution-focused brief therapy, communication, and social skills building for growing client’s toolkits of practice coping strategies.
Kate enjoys working with clients to identify their goals and work towards achieving them to improve overall well-being and live their most fulfilling lives as possible. She has a lifelong passion for working with clients with diffabilities/disabilities and supporting individuals and families through their NDIS journey to thrive.

Lauren works with toddlers, children, teens and adults. She is experienced working with clients who are experiencing anxiety, depression, emotional regulation, neurodivergence, autism, ADHD, intellectual disability, self esteem/confidence, trauma, friendships and socializing, and offers parenting support among other presenting concerns.
Lauren is experienced with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, skills building and coping strategies, Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) and facilitating programs relating to managing disruptive behaviors in children to strengthen family dynamics.
