NDIS data

As of December 2021, there were 12,265 NDIS participants with Down syndrome listed as their primary or secondary disability.[1]

The breakdown of participants with Down syndrome by state is as follows:

23% of active NDIS participants have a primary disability of Intellectual Disability or Down syndrome.  Daily Life goals are the most common goal (34%) among participants with Intellectual Disability and Down syndrome, followed by goals related to Social and Community Activities (21%) and Health and Wellbeing (11%) . [2]

NDIS participants with Down syndrome, and those with intellectual disability, were found to have the most positive opinions about whether the NDIS had helped them. People with Down syndrome were also the most likely to say that the NDIS had helped across five domains including relationships, home, lifelong learning, work and social and community participation.[3]
