News from our Regional Family Networks with Linda Jungwirth, DSV Regional Family Network Coordinator
We’re rapidly approaching the festive season and our regional group members have been busy wrapping up their year.
The Bendigo group is holding a Christmas catch-up dinner and we hope to share some photos in the next edition of DNews. Many are also investigating extracurricular activities for their children for 2023. Drama and Dance are popular activities.
The Warrnambool and District group is planning a catch up in mid-January, learn more about it on the Facebook page.
On Saturday 4 February, DSV will host a ‘Pathways to Independence’ workshop for adults with Down Syndrome and their families in Warrnambool. This will be a great opportunity for planning for independence. Look out for emails and across our social media channels to learn more.
The Geelong group will be hosting a BBQ early next year so keep your eyes on their Facebook group!
Most of the regional groups operate Facebook groups or pages. You can click the relevant link or search by the following names:
- GV Families of Children with Down Syndrome (Shepparton area)
- Bendigo Down Syndrome Group
- Warrnambool and District Down Syndrome Group
- Down Syndrome Geelong
- Ballarat Down Syndrome Community (please note this is a page, not a group)
- Mildura and Wodonga have active groups but do not have Facebook connections. Please contact me to be put in touch.
I look forward to hearing more about what you’re doing in your part of Victoria. I wish all families the happiest of festive seasons and hope you begin 2023 refreshed and energetic.
