26 October 2026

Down Syndrome Victoria has an annual trek where participants get to hike through some of Australia’s most stunning locations while also raising fund for DSV.

Their efforts support people with Down syndrome in Victoria and help us work towards a society where people with Down syndrome are valued, and enjoy social and economic inclusion.

We’d like to introduce you to three of the trekkers taking on the Great Ocean Walk 2026 this November.

Rex

Rex Berthelsen is a keen traveler and he shared, “I have decided to participate in this challenge to tangibly show my support for DSV and to help them provide services for people of all ages with Down syndrome. They help people like my daughter, Jacqui.”

We are sure that Jacqui will be cheering Rex on.

Tim

This will be Tim’s third DSV trek, having walked Victoria’s High Country in 2023, then Mount Kosciuszko in 2024. As well as being a keen nature photographer, the trek is close to Tim’s heart because he sees the impact that DSV has for people with Down syndrome, like his teenage daughter Isla, and their families.

Tim is also going to be donating 1% from every order at his business Otway Print and Frame to Down Syndrome Victoria!

Debby

Many of you will recognise Debby Fraumano! This isn’t her first trek for DSV either, having hiked Mount Kosciuszko in 2024 and the Larapinta Trail in 2025. This year she is looking forward to the opportunity to explore our stunning Victorian coastline and appreciate what we have here in Victoria.

Debby told us that, “It’s a great opportunity to step away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and create space to recharge, to practise mindfulness by walking, being present in the moment, and taking time to reflect and recharge. You get to enjoy meaningful conversations with others while walking, and moments of quiet contemplation when needed.”

We appreciate that while Debby no longer works for DSV she still wants to, “contribute to a community that promotes inclusion, advocacy and opportunities for people with Down syndrome, and get to make a positive difference while creating lasting memories along the way.”

The trek is facilitated by Inspired Adventures.
