About the event

Join us as we review of the importance of sleep and its impact on development and wellbeing, with an emphasis on sleeping patterns and the prevalence of sleep apnoea in children who have Down syndrome.

Participants will gain knowledge about:

  • the importance of sleep
  • healthy sleep behaviours
  • what sleep apnoea isand why it’s more prevalent in children who have Down syndrome
  • the pathways to improve sleep quality in children with Down syndrome.

This workshop is suitable for parents and carers of children with Down syndrome up to the age of 18.

Presenter

Dr Moya Vandeleur, Royal Children’s Hospital

Moya is a paediatric respiratory and sleep medicine specialist at the Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne and a researcher and senior lecturer with the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute. Her clinical and research work focuses on sleep disorders, respiratory conditions, and adolescent health, with particular interest in how sleep affects wellbeing and chronic disease in children.
