Meet your new MyTime Facilitator: Sarah Lacy

Meet your new MyTime Facilitator: Sarah Lacy  thumbnail.

We’re thrilled to introduce the newest MyTime facilitator, Sarah Lacy, who will be leading groups at Bentleigh East, Warrandyte and Blackburn.

Her journey with MyTime is both personal and inspiring. Like many members, she first discovered the program while navigating the world of caring for a child with additional needs. She came across MyTime through a flyer at her son’s therapy clinic, a chat with friendly staff at the Source Kids Melbourne Disability Expo, and a gentle nudge from a Carer Gateway counsellor, who strongly encouraged her to try a group.

She joined the Warrandyte MyTime group in March this year and instantly felt at home. “At the first session I attended, members were chatting and making kokodamas. I felt comfortable right away and haven’t missed a session since.”

Now, stepping into the facilitator role, she’s looking forward to working closely with group members: “I can’t wait to build the program in collaboration with members. MyTime is all about connection, support and creating space for self-care.” Sarah brings passion, creativity, and connection to every session.

The things Sarah loves most about MyTime are:

  • connecting with people who share lived experience as carers
  • the collective wisdom and support that helps everyone manage the ups and downs
  • having a little ‘me time’ while unleashing some creative energy.

Her 4-year-old daughter is also a big fan of MyTime, especially the engaging activities with the play leaders.

Outside of her caring and facilitation roles, she has a few unexpected talents – she can fire twirl! (“Don’t worry – I won’t try this during a session…definite a work safety issue!”)

Why join a MyTime group?

As carers, we’re often expected to have limitless energy and resilience. That’s why self-care isn’t a luxury – it’s a necessity. MyTime gives you the chance to pause, recharge and connect. Whether you prefer relaxing with a cuppa and conversation or getting hands-on with a creative activity, there’s something for everyone – and every session is shaped by what the group wants.

What’s coming up this term?

  • Paint by numbers at Warrandyte, Friday 1 August
  • Guest speaker from Carers Victoria at Bentleigh East, Thursday 21 August
  • Pampering session at Blackburn, 19 September

If you would like to attend one of these sessions or find out more about MyTime at these locations, you can email Sarah.

Come along, connect and see what MyTime is all about!
