About the event
DSV recently announced that we will be opening Daily Good Café later this year. Daily Good is about inclusion and it will provide training and employment opportunities to our community. Our goal is that at least 40 percent of our café staff will be people with Down syndrome.
These information sessions are for people with Down syndrome and their parents, carers and supporters to come and find out about the roles available, what to expect, how to apply, and ask any questions in a friendly and supportive environment.
Applications will open approximately two weeks before the sessions, and you don’t need to attend one of these sessions to apply for a job. The info sessions are simply an opportunity if you have questions before submitting an application.
You will learn about:
- the number of roles available and future opportunities
- the roles available and the tasks involved
- work days, hours and shift lengths
- pay rate
- supports available
- how earnings and hours affect DSP
- special disability trust eligibility considerations
- NDIS Employment Supports funding.
We are also running this same information session on Thursday 3 September at 12pm if that time works better for you.

Presenters
Daniel Payne
Dan commenced as Chief Executive Officer of Down Syndrome Victoria in 2019. He is known to many in the Down Syndrome Victoria community as he has been an active member since 2010 and served on the board from 2016-19. He brings a great balance of advocacy, empathy, understanding of our sector, commercial focus and positive energy. Dan is an active and engaged father to three beautiful children – Holly, Abby, and Tyson. His 16-year-old twin daughter, Holly, has Down syndrome. Dan is motivated and privileged to work alongside people with Down syndrome and their families to reach their potential and live the life they choose.
Bree Mills
Bree has worked in the disability sector for 25 years, including the past 20 years in disability employment. She has an deep understanding of the benefits open employment can bring to the lives of people with disability as well as the broader community.
Growing up with an aunt with Down syndrome ignited Bree’s passion for making a positive contribution to the lives of people with disability and she feels privileged to work at DSV and is committed to providing the best possible service to the DSV community.
