My name is Naomi Lake and I live in Albany, Western Australia. I have three sisters who always look out for me and encourage and support me. I work at a local café as a waitress. I enjoy interacting with customers especially the regulars.

I also go to TAFE where I am studying fashion design and technology. I have previously completed certificates in hospitality, retail, photography and an advanced course for iPad.

I like reading, writing, swimming, cooking and sewing, but my favourite things to do are singing, dancing and acting.

I used to live on a farm when I was young, I loved watching the chickens scratching around the farmyard and holding baby chicks. It gave me inspiration to write the stories about Harmony.

I have published my first children’s book titled Harmony the Forgetful Hen and the Lost Eggs.

Young children will love reading this story with you over and over again, and every sale sees me jumping for joy. Plus, I am very excited because my second Harmony book will be out soon.

Since the publication of my book I have travelled around the outback, visiting small schools and remote communities, sharing my story with the children. After reading I had question and answer sessions and completed activities with them. I sat down talking to the children who didn’t want me to leave. I am looking forward to another road trip next year.

I like being a role model for others and encouraging children to read and write, because it has opened up the world for me. I love learning and trying new things whenever I have the opportunity to do so. You just have to go out to explore the world because the world won’t come to you.

In the future I would like to be an actress. I would also like to get married and have my own home.

My mum says, ‘anything is possible’ and she’s right!!
