Regional Family Network Coordinator

Down Syndrome Victoria (DSV) is looking to recruit a ‘people’ person with knowledge of regional issues and commitment to diversity and inclusivity, into a newly created role of Regional Family Network Coordinator.

Regional Family Networks (RFNs) are independent grassroots groups created by families seeking connection to others with a family member with Down syndrome in their region. DSV has identified eight such groups across regional Victoria (Wodonga, Shepparton, Geelong, Horsham, Mildura, Ballart, Bendigo, Warrnambool). DSV has been working to strengthen our relationship with RFNs and provide greater support to regional families. The RFN Coordinator position will provide dedicated relationship management between DSV and the RFNs.

DSV was recently successful in obtaining a philanthropic grant to create this position. As such the position is for a fixed term contract to December 2022 for 11 hours a week (0.28 EFT), however there is potential for extension if further funding opportunities become available.

Down Syndrome Victoria is the state-wide peak membership organisation representing individuals with Down syndrome and their families. Down Syndrome Victoria is a not-for-profit organisation established in 1978 to provide services, support, information and resources to people with Down syndrome, their families and the broader community. We work alongside people with Down syndrome and their families so they may reach their full potential and live the lives they choose.

We need an enthusiastic and motivated Regional Family Network Coordinator to:

  1. Work alongside RFN Leaders to build strong trusted partnerships
  2. Canvas interest and collaborate with RFNs to establish a regional Community of Practice (CoP) as a vehicle for communication, collaboration, and peer support. The CoP will: Connect Regional Family Network leaders; Facilitate constructive dialogue between RFN’s to address similar challenges, learn from shared experiences, and problem solve together; Introduce collaborative processes while encouraging the free flow of ideas and information.
  3. Identify needs of regional families and facilitate referral to DSV services and supports.
  4. Increase community awareness of DSV’s services and support in regional and rural areas.
  5. Explore the formation of an RFN in the Gippsland region.

Please see the position description and respond to selection criteria in your application.

This is a significant step in DSV’s commitment to strengthening our presence in regional areas.

Please send your application to Janice Chan at janicec@dsav.asn.au by 5pm Friday 11/02/2022. Rural and Regional candidates are encouraged to apply.
