Regional Family Network Coordinator, update

It’s been four months since the introduction of the Regional Family Network Coordinator and we’re already seeing great results for regional areas.

DSV will be attending Ballarat in August to deliver a program of workshops designed for adults with Down syndrome and their families (click here for more information).

We’re planning to offer a similar program in Warrnambool in November, as requested by the Warrnambool and District Down Syndrome Support Group. We also held an online Transition to High School workshop during July to make it accessible to a wider audience, whilst still meeting the Warrnambool community’s needs.

Goulburn Valley families of children with Down syndrome will soon be attending an event that was cancelled due to COVID-19. We’re working together to rearrange a suitable booking and it’s great to know that they’ll be connecting socially as a group again.

Don’t forget, many of our services can be accessed by phone or online, which makes them perfect for those in the regions. Club21 regularly hosts fun events online and there are also regular online Coffee and Chat sessions where you can connect with other parents, carers and get the latest DSV updates.

Please get in touch if your regional group has any issues you’d like to discuss by contacting Linda Jungwirth, Regional Family Network Coordinator at lindaj@dsav.asn.au.

A sincere thank you to the Bank of Melbourne for funding DSV’s Regional Family Network project.
