The Hon. Matthew Mason-Cox joins Down Syndrome Australia board

Down Syndrome Australia is delighted to announce the appointment of The Hon. Matthew Mason-Cox to the board.  

Matthew brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the board. Matthew retired from the NSW Parliament in 2023, having most recently served as President of the NSW Legislative Council and Vice-President of the International Commonwealth Parliamentary Association. Prior to this Matthew also served as Minister for Fair Trading and Deputy Leader in the Legislative Council. 

Matthew’s formal qualifications include a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance) from the University of NSW. Matthew is also a member and graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD). 

Prior to becoming a Member of Parliament, Matthew served in senior roles in both the private and public sectors including as Corporate Counsel for Elders Limited and Director of the Commonwealth Office of Asset Sales and Invest Australia.    

Matthew is a Rotary International Paul Harris Fellow and has served on the boards of a diverse number of business, educational and charitable organisations.   

Matthew is married with four children and his youngest daughter has Down syndrome.
