We have an important fundraising trek coming up: the DSV Larapinta Challenge 2025!

From 24 to 25 August, a group of intrepid hikers will be ticking off a major bucket list hike and raising vital funds for DSV at the same time. Starting and ending in Alice Springs, this is going to be an unforgettable adventure.

Our Charity Representative for the Larapinta Challenge is DSV’s Debby Fraumano. She has shared with us why this trip is important to her.

DSV Larapinta Challenge Charity Representative: Debby Fraumano

Hi, I am Debby Fraumano and I am the Adult Support Manager at Down Syndrome Victoria, where I’ve been working for almost seven years. During that time, I have the privilege of supporting adults with Down syndrome, their families and supports as they navigate key life transitions in areas like health, housing, employment and ageing.

I’m taking on the DSV Larapinta Challenge this August to raise awareness and funds for a cause that means a great deal to me. While there have been many strides forward, there’s still a long way to go to ensure people with Down syndrome have equal access to opportunities in education, employment, housing and healthcare. That’s why the advocacy and support provided by DSV is so vital—it helps create pathways for people to thrive and live the life they choose.

This trek is also about challenging myself. Larapinta has been on my bucket list for years, and I love embracing new and meaningful experiences. We only get to live one life—so let’s make it the best possible, not just for ourselves, but for others too.

Being selected as the Charity Representative for this trek is a huge honour. It means I get to represent the incredible people and families I’ve worked alongside over the years and help raise funds that make a real difference—like $96 for phone support, $500 for a home or hospital visit, or $4,480 to support a child with Down syndrome in school for a year.

This journey is about more than just covering kilometres—it’s about making every step count, connecting with others, and embracing the opportunity to explore a unique and beautiful part of Australia. I’m excited to meet new people, learn from a different landscape and culture, and be part of something truly meaningful.

Come and join me and a crew of other enthusiastic hikers this August! You can find out more about it by clicking the button below.
