We’re excited to share that two of our ambassadors have taken on new international roles. Eoin Gibson has been appointed as DSA’s Australian Ambassador in Down Syndrome International’s Ambassador Program, and Chris Bunton has joined DSI’s new Self Advocacy Group Network.

Eoin Gibson (QLD) has been appointed Australian Ambassador in Down Syndrome International’s 3-year Ambassador Program. Eoin is an Employment Ambassador for Down Syndrome and Intellectual Disability QLD and part of DSA’s Digital Champions group. He lives in Brisbane and works at Coles two days a week. He’s also preparing to represent Australia in swimming at the next Special Olympics National Games in 2026.

Eoin says, I am delighted and excited to be selected for this international role as an ambassador for Down Syndrome. I cannot believe this is happening. This is an amazing opportunity and I thank you all. I love talking about being an Ambassador because I love helping people.”

Chris Bunton (NSW) will represent DSA in Down Syndrome International’s Self Advocacy Group Network, a new global network connecting self-advocacy groups across different countries. Chris is a member of our Down Syndrome Advisory Network, a gold medallist at the World Games, an exceptional gymnast, an actor and an advocate for people with Down Syndrome.

Chris says, “It is a great feeling to be selected. I look forward to connecting with individuals from different countries and improving my self-advocacy skills. I hope I can strengthen my networks, work alongside self-advocates and help raise awareness within the Down syndrome community.”

We also want to thank Andrew Domahidy, who has served as DSA Ambassador for four years.

Andrew reflects: “Over the last 4 years as the DSA Ambassador for the DSi Ambassador Program I enjoyed connecting to people across the globe. My favourite thing was going to the World Down Syndrome Congress in Brisbane last year. I enjoyed my time as an Ambassador and look forward to seeing past members at our catch-up meetings.”

These international roles are important for sharing ideas, strengthening networks and learning from global approaches to advocacy. We’re proud to have Eoin and Chris representing Australia, and we’re grateful to Andrew for his dedication and leadership.
