About the event

This session will focus on accessing services for your teen.

There are different things to consider as your child get older. One step to navigate is changes in circumstance and status relating to Centrelink and Medicare.

Come hear from Services Australia about what you need to consider and the steps you need to take to ensure these changes run smoothly and that entitlements are all in place.

This session is for parents with children who are about to turn 16 but anyone interested in the topic is welcome.

Participants will learn about:

  • what changes when you turn 16 in regards to Medicare and Centrelink
  • the obligations, entitlements and income supports available to carers and individuals once your teen turns 16
  • how to navigate these changes and where to find helpful information.

Community Engagement Officers provide information about payments and services to individuals in community who are unable to access Services Australia via regular channels due to multiple vulnerabilities such as homelessness, mental health issues, substance use and literacy issues.

Multicultural Services Officers work with multicultural community groups, staff and other government departments promoting payments and services to support our culturally and linguistically diverse community.
