Over two sessions we will explore what’s underneath anxiety triggered behaviour and how using an empathic approach towards our children, and compassion towards ourselves as parents and carers, is the way to help our children and our families.

About the event

Over two sessions we will explore what’s underneath anxiety triggered behaviour such as meltdowns/shutdowns. We will explore how using an empathic approach towards our children and compassion towards ourselves as parents and carers, is the way to help our children and our families.

This workshop combines the latest neuroscience and provides practical strategies to help you and your children.

Participants will:

Session 1: 29 May 2023

  • Understand tantrums, meltdowns and shutdowns
  • Explore Behaviour ‘management’ and nervous systems approaches
  • Understand the impact of and how to alleviate chronic stress
  • Accommodations for a calmer home and school

Session 2: 5 June 2023

  • Explore an empathic paradigm shift
  • Learn practical emotion regulation strategies
  • The role of emotion coaching and curiosity
  • How to grow Parental self-compassion

Presenters

Kate French, Side by Side Psychology

Kate French is a Clinical Psychologist and Supervisor. She has an interest in positive mental health, mindfulness and yoga. She has been working with families where there is an identified disability since 2002. Kate enjoys supporting children, teens and parents at her practice; Side by Side Psychology.
