Disability Liaison Officers support people with disability, their families and carers to use hospital services. They are an incredible resource that assist people with disability to access the care and treatment they need. As a fairly new service within hospitals, it is important that you know what they do and how they can support you and your child within the hospital setting.

About the event
Disability Liaison Officers support people with disability, their families and carers to use hospital services. They are an incredible resource that assist people with disability to access the care and treatment they need. As a fairly new service within hospitals across Victoria, it is important that you know what they do and how they can support you and your child within the hospital setting.
This is a free event for parents/carers of children with Down syndrome under the age of 18 years.
Participants will:
- Hear from the DLO from the Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH) talk about their role within the hospital setting.
- Learn about how to get in contact with DLO’s and specific examples of the services/supports they can coordinate for you and your child.

Disability Liaison Officer – Royal Children’s Hospital

Sonia Bonadio, Family Support Manager DSV
Sonia is a social worker and a parent of a child with Down syndrome. She has worked with services in the disability sector, mental health and community based prenatal services.
In 2016 Sonia worked as a MyTime Facilitator for DSV and thoroughly enjoyed her time facilitating the group, providing her with a great opportunity to gain understanding and knowledge in many areas relating to families who have or who are caring for children who have Down syndrome.
