DSWA Guardianship and Administration Workshop

Guardianship is a complex topic and as your loved one with Down Syndrome nears adulthood it is normal to think about how best to support their decision making and independence. Guardianship is a legal process in which a court puts someone, often a parent or trusted adult in charge of making certain decisions on behalf of an individual. The level of authority can vary and decision making can range from medical to financial matters.

It is important to know that guardianship is not the only option and others exist such as joint bank accounts, power of attorney and supported decision making agreements. Each persons needs are unique, that is why we have the Office of the Public Advocate coming into Belmont to talk and answer any questions you may have on the topic.

Sign up for the session at Belmont Hub, 9:30-12:30pm on the 26th November – https://www.trybooking.com/DFVZF
