Key Word Sign: 1 Day Basic Workshop thumbnail.

 

The workshop is accredited with Key Word Sign Australia and delivered by a certified KWS Presenter and will:

  • Provide an interactive teaching environment
  • Support learning a basic vocabulary of signs to use in everyday settings
  • Teach how to choose which signs
  • Cover principles of Key Word Sign and Gesture
  • Reinforce how sign helps communication development

The workshop is suitable for:

  • Parents/carers, family, and members of the community
  • Anyone interested in Key Word Sign

All participants will receive:

  • ‘Getting Started with Key Word Sign’ booklet
  • Certificate of completion

NB. Snacks and coffee / tea will be provided during the workshop, however participants are asked to bring or buy their lunch (cafes nearby). A fridge is available if you wish to bring your own lunch.

Please note: This cost may be able to be claimed from your family member’s NDIS plan, dependent upon whether the plan is self or plan-managed; and if there is a goal in the plan that aligns to communication. If you’re unsure, feel free to contact the Support Services team at DSQ or liaise with your Early Childhood Partner or Local Area Coordinator.

About the event

Cost: $350

Where the participant has provided 2 clear business days’ notice of cancellation and the spot can be filled Down Syndrome Queensland will not charge a cancellation fee. 

Any less notice of cancellation may be charged up to 100% of the agreed price for the cancelled service.

*Invoice for payment will be sent after the workshop has taken place
