About the event

Join us for an informative session with Dr Ursula White, an Optometrist from Special Eyes Vision Services, who will be sharing insights on brain-based vision differences, commonly referred to as Cerebral Visual Impairment (CVI) – A condition that affects how the brain processes visual information.

Cerebral visual impairment (CVI) refers to a broad range of vision difficulties caused by injury or differences in the brain, rather than problems with the eyes themselves.

Many children with Down syndrome experience challenges linked to CVI, such as difficulty with stairs, finding things against cluttered backgrounds, and judging movement.

This webinar will explore how CVI differs from other vision problems, how it is assessed for and diagnosed, why proper recognition and understanding is so important, and practical strategies to support children in various environments such as the home and in the classroom.

Ursula will share how early identification and tailored support (such as environmental adjustments, and collaboration with the relevant professionals) can make a real difference.

Don’t miss this chance to deepen your understanding and discover how to better support children with complex visual needs.
