Pathways to Independence  

The Pathways to Independence program delivers information and capacity building activities to people with Down syndrome and their families in the form of face to face workshops and online webinars across Australia.  

This project aims to empower people with Down syndrome and their families to develop independence and make choices about their lives.  

The workshops have two streams, one for people with Down syndrome and one for parents, families and supporters.  

For people with Down syndrome, the workshop topics available are: 

  • Decision Making 
  • Community Participation 
  • NDIS 
  • Relationships 
  • Self Advocacy 
  • Healthy Living.

For families and supporters, the workshop topics available are: 

  • Buidling and Supporting Independence 
  • Circles of Support 
  • Community Connections
  • Housing Options 
  • Supported Decision Making 
  • Supporting Healthy Lives.
