Peer Support

Families often find talking to other parents of a child with Down syndrome helpful. Peer support groups provide a great opportunity to get together with other families, share ideas and experiences and meet new friends.

There are a number of closed Facebook groups and social media pages and groups to connect with other parents and families and carers that may be linked to your local Down syndrome association.

You can find out more about these through your local Down syndrome association.

Support and information from your local Down syndrome association

You can get in touch with your local Down syndrome organisation to find out more about support for parents and families.

The State and Territory Down syndrome associations provide support, information and links to other local families. Personal visits to families at home or in metropolitan hospitals are often also available.

New parent information packs can be provided to all new families and your local Down syndrome association will let you know about the next ‘Welcome’ event in your area. Please contact your local association to let them know you have a new baby.
