Ageing well resources

Ageing well resources thumbnail.
Down Syndrome Australia have developed a range of resources for adults about ageing well.

These resources remind people how they can get older and be healthy.

I think people with Down syndrome should watch the video to see how to live well, be happy, be healthy and enjoy your life as you get older.

As we get older our bodies and brains change. So, it is really important to look after our bodies and brains.

There are five resources to help people with Down syndrome as they get older.

This what the resources are about:

  • Keeping my body healthy is about how to look after different parts of your body as you get older. For example your eyes, ears and brain.
  • Perimenopause and menopause is for women. It alks about how your body changes when you get older. It tells you what can help and how to get support.
  • Anxiety and depression is all about mental health. This resource teaches you about anxiety and depression. It is important for us to know so we can get help.
  • Grief and loss is about how you feel when somebody dies. It tells us about what the feeling of grief is like. It talks to us about what can help when we feel grief and people who can help.
  • Dementia is about a sickness you can get when you get older. It helps us understand what dementia is. It teaches us what it looks like and who can help us.

People with Down syndrome need lots of help and support as we get older. We need your help to tell people with Down syndrome about these resources. For example, show them to a friend or a support worker.

After you have looked at these resources, we have some questions. If you answer these questions it will help us get more funding to help people with Down syndrome with ageing more. Please take the survey to answer the questions.
