The Australian Government set up a Royal Commission into Violence, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of People with Disability.

A Royal Commission is an official way of looking into a big problem.

People with disability, families and advocates shared their experiences.

Organisations like DSA wrote submissions to the Commission on topics like

·         Inclusive Education

·         Migration

·         Health and prenatal screening

·         Employment

·         Community Attitudes.

You can read our submissions here Disability Royal Commission – Down Syndrome Australia

The final report by the Commission was shared on Friday 29 September. It made lots of recommendations to make people with disability safer and more included. DSA is looking forward to working with the Government and other organisation to make sure the recommendations that support people with Down syndrome are made real.
