The Education Support Service (ESS) delivered by Down Syndrome Victoria is open for registrations for 2025.
Our Education Support Consultants provide specialist information to assist schools to deliver appropriate pedagogy and curriculum to students with Down syndrome. Our service contributes to strengthening partnerships between parents of children with Down syndrome and their school community.
The Department of Education fund a limited number of ESS places for students transitioning within mainstream government schools. For an annual fee, DSV also provides a number of additional ESS places for non-transitioning students in department schools and students in catholic and independent schools.
In the course of three school visits (nine hours in total) across the year, the Education Support Service can provide:
- specialist resources
- curriculum modification
- positive behaviour support
- Professional development sessions
- assistance at student support meetings
- email/phone consultation as required.
We are excited to share that from 2025, registration will provide access to the new DSV Education Platform, which includes resources, training modules, a Community of Practice and more.
Positions are limited and will be filled in order of receipt of registration.
See the registration flyer and find more information on the Education Program on our website. To talk to one of our education team, you can send them an email or call 9486 9600.
