Describe what you have appreciated about your child’s teacher this year?
Shirley’s hard work and dedication in getting the best out of Caitlin while taking into consideration her strengths and weaknesses. She has displayed the upmost loyalty and advocacy for Caitlin to everyone around her, ensuring that Caitlin’s needs are and will be correctly met.
What has it meant to you and your child to have your child included at school?
Since Caitlin has attended Mitchelton Pre Schooling Centre she has jumped in leaps and bounds in her development; following directions, taking turns, displaying patience, social skills, her fine and gross motor skills and most of all her verbal skills.
Have there been any memorable moments from this year at school that you wish to share?
Every day that Caitlin attended kindy under the guidance of Shirley at Mitchelton Pre Schooling Centre has been memorable.
What is one thing you hope that will continue for your child with Down syndrome in their schooling life?
That Caitlin will be given every opportunity possible for her to reach her full potential and to be happy.
Is there anything else you wish to comment or say to your child’s teacher?
While Caitlin has been under the care of Shirley at Mitchelton Pre Schooling Centre she has experienced true inclusion. Caitlin was always expected to participate in everything that every other student was. I am extremely grateful to Shirley for seeing and developing Caitlin’s true potential.
