Fundraisers

Fundraising is a fantastic way to get involved in your local community! There are so many ways YOU can help.

To assist in your fundraising journey we have created a Fundraising Toolkit with lots ideas and tips to make your fundraising experience a positive one. No matter your age or your ability, it is easy to get involved and make a difference.

There are two notable fundraising activities in the DSQ calendar:

  1. World Down Syndrome Day on 21 March: Lots of Socks campaign
Many of our members and supporters run and participate in events to raise funds. Join DSQ to raise funds through ‘Lots of Socks’ – visit our online store to buy your socks.
  2. Down Syndrome Awareness Month in October: StepUP!
Our members and supporters will be helping us raise funds at StepUP! events across the country.

Here are a few more ideas that can help you make a difference throughout the rest of the year:

  • Run a Bunnings Sausage Sizzle
  • Recycling through Containers for Change
  • Organise your own event, such as morning teas, dinner parties, trivia or movie nights, etc.

Regular Giving

Regular giving is one of the easiest and most effective ways you can help support DSQ. It is automatic and flexible making the giving process easy for you. Simply choose a gift amount to be debited from your credit card or nominated bank account once a fortnight/month. You can update your payment details, update the gift amount, or cancel or pause this at any stage. We will provide you with an annual statement each July to help you with your tax return.

To arrange regular giving or for more information, please contact engagement@downsydnromeqld.org.au.

Gifts

On special occasions where you do not require a gift, why not request your guests to donate to DSQ on your behalf?

Contact events@downsyndromeqld.org.au who will provide you with a QR code to make donating easy for your guests.

Wills & Bequests

Leaving a bequest in your will is another way you can make a real difference to a person with Down syndrome and/or intellectual disability.

Throughout ones’ life journey, parents, families and cares devote countless hours towards allowing people with intellectual disabilities to take their rightful place in the community. Leaving a gift in your will allows DSQ to continue to provide the programs and support for people and their families, now and into the future.

Through a support through a bequest, you can continue to make a lasting impact by deciding on the amount you wish to give and where this support is to be allocated.

DSQ recommends that you consult your legal or other professional counsel when preparing your Will. This advice should be obtained about any provision you make within your Will for DSQ and any tax implications for your Estate arising from the form of your gift (cash or assets). DSQ recommends that your decision is made in consultation with family members and others affected by your bequest.

If you would like more information about leaving a will or bequest to DSQ, please contact engagement@downsydnromeqld.org.au.
