There’s always an opportunity for you to get involved! Here’s a sneak peak of what’s going on in our community:

Join the Learn & Lead Group!

Down Syndrome Australia are looking for 10 people to give advice to the new National Centre of Excellence in Intellectual Disability Health. 

Why join? 

  • Be a leader and help guide projects. 
  • Share your ideas to improve health services. 
  • Learn new skills in advocacy, research, and public speaking. 
  • Work with a supportive team and make new friends. 
  • Get paid for your time. 

Down Syndrome Australia welcomes everyone to apply and are keen to hear from First Nations people, people from different cultures, rural and regional residents, people who are LGBTQIA+ and those with communication support needs. 

You need to have an intellectual disability to apply, but you don’t need to have Down syndrome.

Attend a FREE full day inclusive education workshop – provided by Community Resource Unit (CRU)

CRU are coming to Toowoomba & Rockhampton to deliver an inclusive education workshop for parents and family members of children with disability and their supports, ‘Inclusion and Belonging at the Local School: The parent advocacy tool-kit’.

This workshop will cover:

  • knowing your child’s gifts and setting a vision for inclusion success
  • embracing your role as an advocate
  • what authentic inclusion in the regular class looks like
  • education laws, policies and support

Become a regular volunteer!

DSQ are looking for volunteers for upcoming social events!

Our programs provide participants with an authentic social and education experience to develop their social and independence skills. From awareness events, peer support and challenge weekends (camps), our vibrant and dynamic organisation has a diverse range of volunteer opportunities for those that are interested in getting involved.

To volunteer for our social programs, you must hold a valid working with children’s card and NDIS clearance.
