Volunteer with us
We are a small organisation with limited resources and volunteers play a critical role in enabling Down Syndrome Victoria to empower individuals with Down syndrome for a lifetime of meaningful inclusion in the community. The organisation, which began in 1978, was actually started by volunteers.
Volunteering is a way to connect with your local community as well as provide a pathway to both personal and skill development. Volunteering is open to people of all ages and individuals with a disability are encouraged to apply.
Join our board: expressions of interest sought
The current DSV board consists of five non-executive directors. DSV operates a skills-based board with each director bringing different skills that benefit the organisation at that point in time.
The organisation is facing a challenging, but exciting, period of opportunities surrounding the value that we offer our members and community. After redeveloping our DSV Strategic Plan in 2023, DSV are now navigating the execution of the 2024-26 Plan within interesting times surrounding funding avenues, changes to the NDIS and member priorities. As part of a recent review of skillsets and against the goals of the current DSV Strategic Plan, non-executive director positions are now available.
We are seeking expressions of interest from people with any of the following skills, attributes and/or experience:
- Grants, both philanthropic and/or government (this could be across multiple departments, including disability, employment, health and/or education).
- Communication strategies surrounding philanthropic partnerships.
- Fundraising, particularly medium-large initiatives targeting corporate Australia.
- Finance (both small business operational models and/or finance governance) and investments.
DSV is an equal opportunity organisation. We encourage applications from a diverse range of people with a diverse range of skills to help us achieve our goals and represent the community we support.
If you wish to express interest in either of these positions, or ask any questions, please contact me at president@dsav.asn.au.
Expressions of interest close Friday 20 September 2024 at 5pm.
With thanks,
Brendan Edwards
DSV President
