Supporting, Advocating, Empowering

It is time to StepUp!

We encourage you to join us in standing up for Down Syndrome during Down Syndrome Awareness Month.

Our goal is to recruit at least 100 fundraisers to take a StepUp! challenge – you can participate through the challenges below, or you can choose your own challenge and do 21 times during October.

Bridge to Brisbane

The Sunday Mail Bridge to Brisbane is back for 2024 and DSQ invites you to sign up and fundraise for StepUp! It’s as easy as 1,2,3:

  1. Visit the Bridge to Brisbane – GoFundraise website
  2. Search and select Down Syndrome Queensland as your charity fundraiser
  3. Login or register for the Bridge to Brisbane!

Step Up for Townsville

Join us at Stand Park in Townsville to StepUp for Down syndrome!

All funds raised will support Down Syndrome QLD to continue their work in supporting and empowering people with Down syndrome to have full access to social and economic inclusion.

Registrations will open soon! Contact us to get notified.

#21YourWay

#21YourWay is a national campaign hosted by the Down Syndrome Australia Federation raising funds for state and territory associations. All funds raised will support the Down Syndrome Australia Federation to continue their work in supporting and empowering people with Down syndrome to have full access to social and economic inclusion.

You might pledge to walk 21 minutes a day, bake 21 cookies, plant 21 trees, or run 21 kilometres throughout October. The choice is yours!

Host your own local event!

You can orgnanise your own local event, like a walk in the park, picnic, family fun day, morning tea, afternoon tea, coffee catch up, local gym challenge, cake stall, daily steps challenge, play in the park, host a raffle or auction, a local gala dinner or fundraiser, a workplace lunch and more.

Your support means the world to us and is so needed.

We’d love to hear from you if you are interested in running your own local event, so we can offer our support and add it to our events list. Please email engagement@downsyndromeqld.org.au.

A Bone-afided Update: DSQs weekly update with CEO Sarah Bone

After a few days off with my family, I’m feeling refreshed and diving back into budgets, recruitment, and stakeholder connections. I was also excited to hear about our Possibility Pathways cohort’s workplace visit to IntoWork Australia as part of their job readiness program.

Our mission is to ensure people know that Down Syndrome Queensland is the peak Body representing the intellectual disability community, representing not only the Down syndrome community but the whole intellectual disability community.
Integrity, Passion, and Inclusion remain at the heart of our mission! I would encourage you to check out our Peak Body website where you can find information about services and supports and resources - https://idqld.org.au/

I am looking forward to continuing this important work and strengthening connections as we move forward 😊
