What is the Continued Education Program?

CEP is an ongoing holistic education program including components of real-world experiences. It’s a continuation of a students’ education after school and into adulthood, building on the students’ learning strengths.

The program is for people over 18 years old to participate in structured learning activities in a classroom environment of no more than 12 students.

The program runs one day per week across 4 terms and has key elements developed to support a wide range of student goals, including Public Speaking and Presentation Skills, General Knowledge and Current Affairs, Reading, Writing, Spelling, Health and Arts.

Who can participate in CEP?

CEP is aimed for adults with intellectual disabilities who are interested in continuing their education post formal schooling.

Participants should have the ability to sustain concentration and independence required to complete tasks in a classroom environment, the ability to independently care for self and personal hygiene and the ability to access and function within the wider community.

What our team says:

This program has allowed me to witness firsthand the transformative power of education that extends beyond the traditional school setting, focusing on real-world experiences and building on the students’ learning strengths. We recognise that each student has unique strengths and learning styles. By tailoring our teaching methods and curriculum to meet their specific needs, we ensure that every student receives the support and guidance necessary to succeed.

Although we still include academic based learning, the Continued Education Program nurtures personal growth and independence. We encourage our students to take ownership of their learning and make decisions that align with their goals and aspirations. Through this empowerment, we witness incredible transformations as students develop the skills and confidence to navigate the challenges and opportunities that come their way.
